Volunteer Opportunities Summer 2024
All volunteer positions are based at the Church of the Holy Spirit, 204 Monument Road in Orleans with some traveling to sites from Harwich to Provincetown.

Never volunteered with F4K before?
Our goal is to feed children and teens during the summer months when they do not have access to school meals. Food 4 Kids partners with more than 15 different community-sponsored recreation and education programs across the 8 communities on the lower/outer Cape, from Harwich to Provincetown. Together we distribute free lunches and snacks to 500+ children each weekday for 9 weeks in the summer. We make, pack and deliver these meals with a very small paid staff and the generous efforts of volunteers like you.

We hope you will sign up to help with:
7:30 - 9:30 AM MEAL PREPARATION: Work in the kitchen helping to prepare meals and snacks under the supervision of the Kitchen Manager. This is a fairly fast-paced, production line making 1,000 lunches!
9:30 - 10:45 AM PACKING LINE: Work in assembly line fashion to pack lunch bags and load them into coolers. Consider driving or dump runs too if you are able!
11 AM - 12:30 PM FOOD PREPARATION: Work in the kitchen helping prepare for the following day under the supervision of the Kitchen Manager. A more relaxed pace compared to the early food preparation, tasks may include cooking, washing/cutting fresh fruit, dividing bulk packs into single-serve, breaking down boxes, etc.
DELIVER MEALS: Starting as early as 10:00 am, pick up and deliver coolers full of meals and bags of snacks to our sites. Consistency is key here, so we highly encourage you to volunteer to drive for a whole week. Destinations include Harwich, Brewster, Eastham, Wellfleet, Truro, and Provincetown. In some cases we need more than 1 driver for one location.
DAILY DUMP RUN for recyclables any time after 10:00 am.
